Haunted Ground Encampment April 11-12

Men,

On the evenings of April 11 and 12 the MIB will be assisting the John Wornall Museum and House and GHOST VIGIL is investigating the apparent haunting of the Wornall Home.
Ghost Vigil is a TAP's family member of paranormal investigators.

Those of you who are brave enough will be set up on the grounds of the Wornall Home. Our mission will be to provide atmosphere to the individuals who will be touring the home, viewing the Ghost Hunter Equipment and hearing the history of the home and its hauntings.

We will be also be telling ghost stories to the visitors before they enter the home. Those of us who are brave enough to spend the night might be able to have a spirit or two visit us after the spectators leave as we spend the night.

Kace and I will tell you more about this event this weekend at Dayton.

Today I received a call from the Director of the Museum. It seems that the place was very active today. an electrician was working in the building, he left early. He told the Director that he wanted to know who the two men were who were dressed in the old fashioned clothing. The one with the long bead and pipe told him he wasn't wanted in the home and told him to leave. He was especially taken aback by the gentlemen with the Civil war uniform and musket standing by the entrance who also told him to leave and that he wasn't wanted there! This apparition really unnerved the worker. He collected his tools, and left, leaving the job unfinished.

The director called me on my room phone in the room and related the story to men just before noon. The soilder has been seen before standing on the landing that opens onto the front room pf the mansion. The man with the pipe has never been reported seen before. His pipe smoke is often sensed by visitors such as Boy and Girl Scout Groups.

The thing that makes me believe the Director and her story is--- Neither she nor her staff related anything about the appartions to the electrician or the history of the house. In fact, they seldom mention the occurances to anyone.

It looks like things are heating up at the Wornall Home Museum in preparation for the 11 and 12th GHOST ENCAMPMENT. Are you brave enough to stay the nite?

COMMISSARY NEEDS

Lt. Kace,

I am preparing my list of medical supplies to be drawn from the depot at Westport Missouri for the action that is anticipated in the area of Dayton, Missouri on the last weekend of March.

What commissary supplies are needed for that weekend?

Will the undercooks be able to accompany the Battalion next week. I have not heard from Sgt. Mandrich or Mr. Mallory since winter furlough. I know that Sgt. Mandrich had a bout with an upper respiratory problem earlier this winter when I spoke with Dr. McPheeters of Salem, Missouri in February.

I would like to requisition my commissary needs when I draw the medical supplies at Westport. Any assistance you can render to this matter would be appreciated.

Captain Powers - Battalion Surgeon.

CIVIL WAR NURSES

In my research for the Irish Fest I have been researching the role of the female nurse during the Civil War. I have found some interesting facts, disproved a few myths I have aquired along the way concerning the role of the female nurse at the Field Hospital.

I would recommend the pamplet "WHITE ROSES". This pamplet gives biographical sketches of twenty or so brave women of the period who served as nurses on both sides of the conflict.

Thanks to the Google Book Project I have been able to downlaod and read several of those brave ladies books that detailed their experiences during the war in Field Hospitals, the forward aide station on the battlefield and on the Hospital Ships of the Union.

This Wednesday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. will be the monthly meeting of the Civil War Roundtable of Western Missouri. Again it will be a whizz bang meeting. The topic will be the American Indian and the Civil War. I'm sure Stand Waite will be discussed.

If you can, make every effort to make this meeting on Wednesday. Get there around 6:15 p.m. if you want a place to park or a seat. I would bring a folding chair with me I do.

As always, refreshments are provided and you do not need to be a member of the group to attend.

Hope to see a nice representation of the MIB this Wednesday at the Old Blake Museum at 7:00 p.m. in Independence, Mo.

FYI Several members of this Roundtabkle came to the encampment we had at UNION STATION last month.
