KANSAS CITY IRISH TRVIA CONTEST RESULTS
On Saturday night, at about 10:30 p.m. at the Irish Museum and Cultural Center, after 10 rounds of questions totaling 100 total questions. The undisputed KINGS of KANSAS CITY IRISH TRIVIA for 2008 were crowned.
Mike Mahoney TV reporter for Channel 9 and and Orphan Train particpant served as the questioner.
Ten teams of six contestants each slugged it out for 3 1/2 hours. Questions about Irish culture, political history, the civil war, The Wild Geese, James Joyce, Kansas City Irish History, the Gaelic language, religion, Irish Music/art,United States Presidents and geography were presented to the teams. Written reponses were required for each question. Only one multiple choice question was given.
Teams were fielded from the two Ancient Order of Hibernian Orders in the Kansas City area. The Celtic Ranch, The Kanes, members of the IMCC and other traditional Irish organizations centered in the Kansas City area.
The winning team answered 79 of the 100 questions correctly.
The winning team received a piece of the Blarney Stone, a cash prize for their efforts and forever the right to brag because the KANES were the winners of the First Annual IRISH TRIVIA CONTEST in Kansas City.
