Election Ballot - 2009
I received my 2009 Official Ballot three days ago. We have a fine slate of candidates this year.
Here are my choices:
For Capt. I think Sean O'Malley is a good choice.
While Mike would make a fine Lt. my vote is going to Gary..
Mike is 1st Sgt material all the way.
Steve is my choice for Sgt.
For Corporal I voted for Mark. Eiher Ben, Paul or Mike Sager would be fine choices for 2nd corporal.
On the events and Question ballot.
Question #1 I see no need to vote, the Capt can do as he pleases. But I voted yes
Question #2 I would like to see the meetings earlier and moved around to differnet locations. 8:00 p.m. puts me home to late especially when I must get up at 5:00 a.m. for school. Another location could be the GAF on Wornall Road at Gregory. every now and then and its a real Irish Bar restaurant. . In fact the LOH and AOH use it as a meeting place. It's much closer for the members in Harrisonville. Maybe even the Irish Cultural Center at Union Station. To not have the meetings is silly. The point of having them was to get information out If the meetings are at the events that cuts out many who couldn't make the event or events.
Events Questions:
I voted for Shoal Creek because of the press coverage and its proximity to large metropolitan centers of population. I worry about flooding in the spring. But either would make a fine event, but my vote goes to Shoal Creek.
I voted for Conner Prairie Indiana. If we are in the 1st Federal Division then we should go to the Division's Event. To not go is wrong and it will send the wrong message about the Battalion. To me its a no brainer, Conner Prairie
Lower Fort Snelling is in the twin cities area and it's an event you won't want to miss. I went there four or five years ago during its Civil War Medical weekend. It was a blast. I stayed in the Fort and had the time of my life.
So my vote went to Fort Snelling. Its an easy drive up I-35 and its close for those members in Des Moines.
For October I voted for Fortescue. I rather go to the Mound City are than to drive to Ark.
Those were my choices boys and the reasons why.
Labels: Ballot, Conner Prairie, Fort Snelling, Fortescue, Mark Keith, Medical Common Sense, Mike Sager, Paul Mallory, Sean O'Malley, Shoal Creek, Western Brigade
