Christmas in the Civil War

Dear Medical Staff:

Harpers Gazette ran several articles and pictures centering on Christmas during the Civil War. Nast's Union Santa is a must see if you never have seen him. It's a classic. JIm Beckner, a local reenactor does a great Un ion Santa.

Even then, as now, the thoughts of the men, far from home, in times of war, turn toward harth, home and family. These thoughts were depicted in the drawings published by Harpers during the war.
