THE BLACK CREPE IS HUNG ABOVE THE DOOR

Men,
THE BLACK CREPE IS HUNG ABOVE THE DOOR
I received tragic news late last night that Shelby Dean Lucky, MSgt, USAF (ret). father of Sgt Shannon Lucky of the 7th and 30th Missouri died suddenly last night while on vacation in Alpine Texas.
Shannon was able to enjoy his father just last week at a dinner in Albuquerque, NM.
Shannon was and is an avid Air Force buff. He obviously got that from his father who served in the Air Force during the Viet-Nam War.
I know exactly how Shannon feels.
For those of you who knew Lucky and those of you who will learn of him, Shannon was an interesting character. Shannon, Jim Allister, Lep and Lt. Paddy were the first men I met when I joined the unit.
I have keep Shannon as a friend over the years. I feel his lose deeply.
Please keep Shannon and especially his father in your prayers.

Lucky and I were room mates in Goose Bay Labrador in 1961 - 62 and we have remained close friends since that time. I feel his loss on a very personal level and will always remember the laughter of a man who brought me so much joy pleasure in my life. I spoke with Shannon's mom yesterday to express my condolences and to tell her and Shannon how sorry I am for their loss. For those of you who never met Luck, your life is not as good as it could have been. May God keep Luck close at hand so that God may also enjoy a very special man.

Shannon will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery at Fort Sam Houston Texas.
