Medical User Group name Changed/7th Missouri Medical Web site opened

Men,

To be more reflective of the Medical Department of the Muddy River Battalion the name of my yahoo group and its url have changed.

The new name of the group is: muddyriverbattalionmedical
The url is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/muddyriverbattalionmedical/
If you were a member of the former group you are still a member of the new group. A notification has been sent to your email telling of the change.
Please make the necessary changes to your email etc....

This new site will feature the medical aspect of the Battalion. While articles concerning the MIB will still be posted to the new site, the thrust of the new group site will be towards the Medical Impression of the Battalion.

You are invited to join us over at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/muddyriverbattalionmedical/There are some simply wonderful pictures of an amputation of a right foot I received from the Chief Surgeon of the 1st Federal Division, Dr. Trevor Steinbach, while at the North South Alliance meeting last weekend in St. Louis. Missouri with Col. Crofutt. There may be some wonderful National events coming west of Mississippi. I wish I could tell you more but I am under an oath of secracy. (sp).

I believe this name change will be for the benefit of the Battalion. This new site should alay fears the old site name may have caused ie... as being perceived as competiion to MissouriIrishBrigadeMembersCamp site on msn.com .

Please come over and join. The pictures alone will be worth it.

I have also opened a web site for the 7th Missouri Medical Impression.
Its name is 7th-missouri.medical.org You can view this web site by following this url:

North South Alliance Meeting

North South Alliance Meeting
St. Louis, Missouri
May 3 thru May 5th
Friday May 3th: Journied over to St. Louis after picking up Col. Crofutt at the Lone Jack, Missouri encampmant. An uneventful trip. Gasoline prices were insane. They ranged from $2.87 in Kansas City to $3.14 per gallon in St. Louis County.
We checked in at 10:30 p.m. and then went ot the ADC's room for a brief chat. Turned in at 1:30 a.m.
Saturday May 4th. Up at 6;15 a.m. shower, shave and then to breakfast at the hotels restaurant. Great buffet for $12.50.. I was introduced to The 1st. Federal Divisions Head Surgeon Major Trevor Streinbach. This was a stroke of luck. We hit it off from the first sentence. Dr. Gaskill answered every question I had on wounds, appliances and medications. During the meeting we exchanged pictures PowerPoints and papers concerning Civil War Medicine. It will be a pleasure working as a Battalion Surgeon under Dr. Gaskill's command when our battalion is able to join the 1st. Federal Division.
Lunch at the hotel and supper at Bandanna's BBQ. At 10:30 p.m. it was cigars and brandy in the saloon courtesy of Dr. Gaskill.
Sunday, May 5th Up at 7:15 a.m. after a great n ites sleep. Turned on the TV to see a wall of water pouring on Kansas City and the encampment site at Lone jack. Calls were made to Captain Gammil. Gammil reported the ecvent was called and the men were packing up. More than a few became stuck in the mud and needed asistance leaving the parking areas. We met thwe wall of watrer at the Marshall Junction on I-70 at 10:30 a.m... Heavy rain and wind all the way to Blue Springs.
A short stop at my quarters to retrive two new hats for the boys in St. Joe then on to Platte City so Col. Crofutt could meet his wife.
Back home about 4:00 p.m. I fell asleep on the couch until 6:00 p.m.
It was a very profitable trip for the Medical Impression as it was for the Battalion as a whole.
